In May of 2023, we were buzzing with excitement as White Castle and USA Luge brought the thrilling Slider Search to town. This event, designed to scout for potential luge athletes, turned a quiet neighborhood hill into a haven for speed enthusiasts. Sleds equipped with wheels zoomed down a big paved hill, giving participants a taste of what it feels like to be a luge athlete.
Stephanie, always up for a challenge, decided to give it a try. She started at the bottom of the hill, navigating the course. With each run, her confidence grew. She worked her way up, tackling steeper and steeper parts of the hill. Her determination was evident as she approached the top of the launch ramp, seeking the thrill of higher speeds.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with cheers and encouragement from friends, family, and onlookers. Stephanie’s dedication and fearless spirit shone brightly as she raced down the hill, her face a picture of concentration and excitement. It was a proud moment for us all, seeing her push her limits and embrace the challenge with such enthusiasm.
After the exhilarating day, the wait began. For months we anxiously awaited news from USA Luge, hoping Stephanie would be selected to move on to the next level. We knew that regardless of the outcome, Stephanie had shown incredible courage and skill.
